LDR Astro 600 leading the green transition of Estonian theatres with E&T Ltd

LDRs Astro 600 followspot is taking center stage in the green transition that is transforming theatres and concert halls across Estonia. Selected as the ideal solution to replace outdated halogen spotlights, the Astro 600 stands out for its high performance, uniform beam, and intuitive operation—qualities that have quickly established it as a benchmark in the professional followspot market.

This transformation is part of a broader project promoted by the Ministry as part of the so-called “green turn,” which aims to replace obsolete equipment by introducing reliable, silent, and high-quality LED solutions. Driving this process forward is Olev Luhaäär, a key figure at E&T Ltd, a long-established company specializing in the sales and rental of professional lighting equipment. “Our role is to advise clients, assess their needs, and propose the most suitable solutions,” explains Luhaäär. “In this case, the fundamental criteria for equipment selection were light output, noise level, and beam uniformity.”

Meeting these requirements was precisely the Astro 600 by LDR, which has established itself as the ideal choice to replace the existing systems. Thanks to its versatility, it proves to be particularly suitable for both theatrical and concert settings. “The season has just started and we are still waiting for final feedback,” continues Luhaäär, “but expectations are high. We have known LDR products for around 25 years and especially appreciate their reliability, excellent value for money, and the company’s quick response to market demands.”

The new setup goes beyond LDR followspots, also integrating a control desk based on Chamsys MagicQ consoles and Robe T1 Profile spotlights. However, it was the arrival of the Astro 600 that immediately made the green transition tangible, marking a clear break from the past.

In Estonia, the theatre scene continues to be vibrant and dynamic, with cultural venue managers showing growing interest in technologies that combine energy savings, reliability, and ease of use—further enhanced by lighter equipment and simpler handling. In this context, the partnership between E&T Ltd and LDR seems set to grow even stronger, providing concrete proof that intuitive, high-performing, and sustainable products like the Astro 600 can become key tools in modernizing stages and advancing professional lighting toward a green future.
